We often times get asked, “what is it like to live in Martinez?”… The first response is AWESOME and the second one is “let us tell you why”, and then 30 minutes later people get it!

This common question inspired me to bring to you The Perfect Martinez Sunday, a look into what the perfect day would look like for you in our lovely and historical downtown.

First, you’d start off with an extraordinary breakfast at Vic’s. Their waffle sandwich is as good as it sounds, and their mimosas are a great way to top off the meal.

You could then walk down to the farmers market, where you would not only find delicious produce but also most of the downtown shops are open too. There are several antique shops, vintage clothing vendors, and even a sustainable house goods store, called Mighty Market. Folks are so friendly, that you’ll probably make a friend or two.

After you drop off your market finds at home, head out for a hike at Sky Ranch. This hike offers incredible views and connects to over 700 acres of land.

Make your way down the trail for lunch at our favorite local haunt, Troy Greek Restaurant. You’ll love their outdoor patio! It’s private and makes for great people-watching. Troy’s Meza Platter has a little bit of everything and pairs really well with their local Chardonnay.  Watch out for their hot sauce, it packs a KICK!

Before heading back home, walk down to the Waterfront Park. This is like an outdoor Disney! There are a couple of playgrounds, bocci ball courts, a dog park, the historic Train Depot and Pony Express Trail stop. You may even see some of the awesome kite flyers who frequent this park.

End your day with a nightcap, over at Bar Cava for a martini… Martinez is the birthplace of the martini, after all!

If you ever need a recommendation when you come downtown, just reach out!
